Yoga is over 5,500 years old and was developed in India, its aim being to educate the body, mind and spirit. It is now becoming a more popular practice in the Western World. The benefits of Yoga are many, including improved flexibility, strength, posture, body awareness, breathing, concentration, self-esteem, sleep, hormonal balance, digestion.
Yoga is the perfect holistic approach to a growing child and can be introduced at any age.
The classes cover many aspects of the yoga traditions including: breathing techniques, chanting, physical poses, mindfulness, meditation and relaxation. The classes are fun and include games, partner work and Mindfulness games and relaxation
Classes are adapted to the child/children's age, development and if they have any special needs, medical needs or equipment. Therefore the class age groups are a guide.

There are between 6-8 children in a class held at the studio. Small classes allow for more attention to be given to each individual child. Class age groups:

There are between 6-8 teens in a class held at the studio. Small classes allow for more attention to be given to each individual, The teenage years can be both challenging and exciting as they transition from child to adult. The teen faces both physiological and psychological changes. Yoga offers our teens time to stop and find space to cultivate their physical and psychological health and strength. Yoga allows them to have time out from our fast paced connected world, social pressures and academic achievement. |
Children with Special Needs (1:1)This is a gentler approach to yoga and is safe for children with Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome and other Chromosomal abnormalities, Oxygen dependant children ,Microcephaly, Autism. ADD, ADHD, and majority of other disorders.
Yoga classes are also held weekly or more frequently, if requested. Majority of these classes are 1:1 as the Child will need assistance. There are 4 different stages to follow and each one is adapted to each child depending on their cognitive and motor skills. You will be sent a questionnaire prior to the first session to complete and bring with you, it is also advisable to check with your Doctor prior to starting Yoga Yoga has had some outstanding results in improving the quality of life for some children with severe physical needs. WorkshopsWorkshops are offered during the school holidays.
A workshop will have a theme and will last 2-3 hours depending on the age group. |
